About the role
We are looking for a Compliance Operations Contractor to support our compliance function across multiple African jurisdictions. This role is critical in ensuring that Paystack meets its regulatory obligations through structured reporting, documentation, and operational coordination. You will work closely with the Compliance and Legal teams to ensure timely regulatory filings, maintain compliance records, and support audit and due diligence processes. This role requires strong organizational discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. The ideal candidate has a background in compliance, legal, or regulatory operations within a financial institution, fintech, or payments environment.
What you'll be doing
1. Regulatory Reporting & Documentation
Coordinate and prepare periodic regulatory reports across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain structured repositories for regulatory filings, correspondence, and compliance documentation.
Process internal compliance documentation, including invoice approvals and execution requests.
2. Due Diligence & Audit Support
Respond to due diligence questionnaires from partners, merchants, and regulators using standardized templates.
Support internal and external audit processes by organizing and maintaining required documentation.
Assist in preparing materials for regulatory reviews and supervisory engagements.
3. Compliance Operations & Calendar ManagementCompliance Operations (Contractor) JD2
Maintain and track the compliance calendar across all jurisdictions, ensuring no missed deadlines.
Send proactive reminders and follow-ups to internal stakeholders on regulatory deliverables.
Monitor submission status and escalate delays or risks appropriately.
Manage the intake, documentation, and routing of compliance-related requests.
Maintain and continuously improve repositories of compliance workflows and regulatory correspondence.
Support ongoing compliance initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Bonus points if you have
2 + experience in compliance, legal, regulatory operations, or a similar function (preferably within fintech, banking, or financial services).
Strong familiarity with regulatory reporting processes across one or more African markets Nigeria experience is highly preferred).
Excellent organizational and documentation management skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, finance, product, and operations teams.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitiveinformation.
Proficiency with productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace); experience with compliance tools is a plus.
Self-starter with strong ownership mindset and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Duration
6-month contract (with potential for renewal based on performance and business needs)
